How to do a thing. How I messed up a thing.

My first Onyx Boox Template

I've had my Onyx Boox Nova 2 for about 5 months now. I like it, but I kinda wish that I'd gotten a larger device. I may break down and buy myself a Remarkable 2, which is the other device I was thinking about when I got this, and either sell the Onyx or share it with family as an ereader on which everyone can have access to my library. That said, the Onyx has some things that I really like.

Setting up a Wacom on Linux Mint 20 w/ Mate

I recently got a hand-me-down Wacom pad from my dad. It's an Intuos 3, with four buttons on each side, a stylus pen and a mouse. As soon as I plugged it in to my laptop, which is running Linux Mint 20 with Mate as the desktop, it basically worked. I could use the mouse to navigate across my two screens and I could use the pen to draw.

Using my Nikon D3300 as a webcam

Recently, I've been doing a lot more YouTube videos. As I've been getting more advanced in my video production work, I realized that I really needed to up my video quality. I already had a Nikon D3300, but I didn't know how to make it work as a webcam. When I first looked it up, everything I found suggested getting an expensive piece of hardware to capture the HDMI feed and send it to the computer, but I could tell that there was a USB connection port and I suspected that there was a cheaper way to connect my camera to my linux laptop using USB and open source software.
